v a n t e r r e 1000 g Balchem Corporation OptiMSM®, Methylsulfonylmethane, Ultra pure active ingredient quality, completely free of additives and carriers, produced and purified by multiple distillation, The content of methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) in the MSM is below the currently technically possible detection limit. 1000 mg of methylsulfonylmethane contains 340 mg of elemental sulfur.
Balchem employs a much more expensive and labor-intensive distillation method to purify MSM. The MSM is heated to the boiling point of 238°C. The resulting "MSM vapor" is cooled and crystallizes back into MSM crystals. This process is repeated several times to obtain MSM crystals of the highest possible purity:
1. All impurities with lower boiling points evaporate before the MSM. These impurities are mainly organic compounds.
2. But most importantly, all impurities with higher boiling points remain in the so-called distillation column.
These impurities are mainly heavy metals. They have significantly higher boiling points:
Lead (Pb) 1740°C
Cadmium (Cd) 765°C
Arsenic (As) 613°C
Mercury (Hg) 356°C
OptiMSM® from Balchem Corporation is currently the only MSM in the world without detectable heavy metals. In fact, we wouldn't want them in a mineral supplement intended for cellular detoxification and passing through the blood-brain barrier. After extensive research, we opted for OptiMSM®, simply because Balchem is the only manufacturer in the world that purifies MSM through multiple distillation and all this in a production facility dedicated exclusively to MSM production. We have looked at various products, but in every MSM we found quite a bit of heavy metals and other substances. Production is almost exclusively done in China, where purification is done through so-called crystallization. But that means nothing more than boiling. The water evaporates, but not the pollutant particles like heavy metals and residues of black liquor. A purity of 99.6% simply means 996 grams of 1000 grams of MSM. Unfortunately, it was always these 4 grams or, with 99.9%, one gram too much. It corresponds to 1000 mg or 1000 ppm of substances that shouldn't be there. Comparison: OptiMSM® has a purity level of 99.9999974% according to the current state of laboratory analysis, not because it contains pollutants, but because the detection limit of the analytical technique ends there. It can't get any better than that, and that's how we want it.
