product description

v a n t e r r e Premium Natural Zeolite Clinoptilolite Wide Range ø 9 µm 1600g

We have taken the quality of Wide Range zeolite to the next level. Together with our specialists at Jetmills, we have attempted to produce a zeolite with particles that are not quite as fine, but which still has the quality characteristics of genuine tribomechanical airflow grinding, and the result was impressive. Our former Wide Range WR12 zeolite has now become a Jetmill micronised zeolite without any really coarse particles. It is finer and therefore lighter, but has a much more homogeneous particle composition and the 3-litre tin is still really full. It has an average size of 9 µm, with 50% of the particles smaller than 7 µm. This means that it is more suitable for those who do not want ultra-fine, but still fine, without the coarse particles of 80-90 µm. No nanoparticles!  Thanks to thermal activation and special hot grinding in the air stream of the jet mill, it is highly active and has a cation exchange capacity of 180-190 meq/100g (1.8-1.9 mol/kg). Our zeolite is mined in the Carpathian belt in Romania using an excavator (blasting is pointless with a soft stone such as zeolite), followed by the first major thermal activation at approx. 360°C and pre-grinding in a ring roller mill to approx. 200-300 µm. After that, a complete articulated lorry load (because of these quantities per order, we are also able to offer such quality at these prices :-)) is sent to Austria to our Jetmill specialists. They are the manufacturers of these mills and therefore have the deepest insight into the grinding processes. The Jetmill process is the logical further development of Dr Tihomir Lelas' idea of grinding and activating zeolite in mills without grinding bodies. He ‘shot’ the particles at each other with two very large nozzles, also using a rotating steel disc equipped with diamond chips. However, this was a rather ‘brutal’ method, and Dr. Lelas ultimately wanted to produce nanoparticles. This is exactly what we want to avoid, which is why we prefer to micronise and activate our zeolite in a spiral jet mill, a further development of tribomechanical activation, which is somewhat gentler and hotter.  At 300 km/h and approx. 200° Celsius, the zeolite is ground to ø 9µm (microns) in the air stream by particle/particle collision without grinding media and is highly activated in the process. This activation cannot be achieved with any other grinding process; the integrated classifier enables the particles to be discharged in exactly the right size. The zeolite particles rub against each other in the air stream at approx. 300 km/h until they reach the desired size. This is why it is also referred to as a ‘malm body-free process’ and is the gentlest zeolite micronisation technique. Our zeolite does not contain any nanoparticles. All in a 100% reusable BPA-free tin.

Due to its slightly wider grain size distribution, it is suitable for a wide range of applications, to name just a few: All cosmetic applications from skin, oral and body care, alkaline baths (3-4 tablespoons in the tub), soft peels to applications for animals such as dogs, cats, horses, cows, pigs, for aquariums and, last but not least, for soil improvement, lawn care, as a natural leaf fertiliser for pest control, etc. A nozzle set to 0.1 mm will not become clogged.

The data sheet with grain size distribution analysis and the chart for grain size distribution  are also available for viewing.

Here is an excerpt from the grain sizes contained in figures for your information:

Diameter 90%  26.85 μm - Diameter 98 % 42.80 μm

  • 0.30 µm =  0.20%  -   0.50 µm =  0.28%   -    0.70 µm = 0.58%   -   1.00 µm =   1.64%
  • 1.40 µm = 3.74 - 1.80 µm = 2.53% - 2.20 µm = 5.52% - 2.80 µm = 5.10%
  • 3.20 µm = 3.71% - 4.00 µm = 7.91% - 5.00 µm = 6.22% - 6.00 µm = 6.28%
  •   8.00 µm = 8.22% - 10.00 µm = 6.08% - 12.00 µm = 4.25% - 15.00 µm = 6.87%
  •  18.00 µm = 7.25% - 20.00 µm = 4.87% - 25.00 µm = 8.91% - 30.00 µm = 3.42%
  •
  • 38.00 µm = 5.0%   -  45.00 µm = 2.38%  -    60.00 µm = 5.79%

The detailed particle size distribution in figures is listed on page 2 of the data sheet.

One more thing about grain sizes:

Every grinding process produces grain sizes from X to Y; there is no grinding process that simply produces a grain size of, for example, 20 µm or 50 µm. To achieve this, very complex sieving would be required, and a figure such as 20 µm can mean a number of things: average, minimum or maximum grain size. As this is a little too imprecise for us, we have each of our zeolites tested for their exact grain size distribution so that everyone can see which grain sizes are contained in them.

Zeolite - clinoptilolite is not legally classified as a remedy, pharmaceutical excipient, medicine, food supplement, medical preparation or foodstuff in the European Union. It is listed in the FiBL Inputs List (Organic Inputs) 2011 and has EU approval as animal feed additive 1g568. Zeolite has been assessed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as GRAS (Generally Recognised As Safe). However, this is not relevant for the EU.
