product description

KlinoMont® - Natural Zeolite-Bentonite Mix - 5000g in BPA-free 10 Liter Polypropylene Bucket

70% Zeolite-Clinoptilolite ø 6 µm, micronized in an airstream, with 30% Bentonite-Montmorillonite, ø 10 µm hot milled and dried in a ball mill

When two minerals belong together, it's these two! The somewhat "rougher" zeolite as a crystalline mineral and the soft, gentle bentonite as a layered clay mineral, capable of forming a protective film on the mucous membranes and binding mycotoxins even better than zeolite. As a mixture, they are an excellent third variant in this field. Professionally mixed in a 70:30 ratio, there is no need to let the bentonite swell, as the particles are so finely mixed that almost no lumps can form.

However, the deposit of geogenically activated bentonite from the Aegean is unfortunately exhausted, and our specialized supplier for this mineral has informed us that no bentonite of this quality can be found in all of Europe. Our supplier certifies the bentonite as a pharmaceutical excipient and does not want to use bentonite activated by chemical processes. Therefore, we now source the bentonite from Fort Benton, Wyoming, the original discovery site of this mineral, after which it is named. However, mixing with this bentonite is a bit harder than before. It is not as easily soluble in water as the other one, but all mixing attempts in the plant result in a completely homogeneous mixture. However, it acts a bit slower in liquids when dissolving. One needs to stir a bit longer, which also increases the electricity and thereby the effect. This bentonite can absorb up to 10 times its weight in water and swell up to 16 times its volume.

Zeolite / KlinoMont® and Horses

Horses don't have it easy with what grows in the pastures today and what they get as hay. The grass toxins that nowadays enhance the yield of hay and the resistance of the grass are good for the grass but very bad for horses. Their sensitivity in the digestive tract means that even a bit too many carbohydrates can immediately upset the balance in the cecum, making the environment too acidic. The bacteria that digest carbohydrates multiply almost explosively. Meanwhile, there are also bacteria that digest raw fibers, which split the fibers to get to the nutrients within, but also bacteria that digest carbohydrates. Ideally, these should always balance each other, as this keeps the pH in the environment balanced. However, if too many carbohydrates reach the cecum, these bacteria multiply excessively, creating an acidic environment due to the lactic acid they excrete. This environment is hostile to the fiber-digesting bacteria, which contain endotoxins that are released when these bacteria die. This acidic environment damages the intestinal walls, allowing endotoxins and lactic acid to migrate through the intestinal walls into the extracellular matrix and eventually into the bloodstream, potentially leading to a gradual acidification of the entire organism. In horses, this often leads to hoof problems. First signs like foul-smelling manure, diarrhea, fecal water, bloating, infections, or allergies can indicate such an overload of the intestinal flora. The detoxification metabolism becomes overwhelmed, and the immune system is weakened.

This is where aluminosilicates come in handy, with zeolite and bentonite as a mixture, both being basic ion exchangers with a pH value between 8.5-10. They bind toxins and, in the ion exchange, give off colloidal minerals to the weakened body. Moreover, they both bind mycotoxins, which is crucial for grass toxins.

KlinoMont® is very gentle for horses because it is not only very fine due to air stream micronization but also contains almost no zeolite particles over 20 µm. The 30% bentonite with the largest particles being about 38 µm is sufficient in the mixture ratio to completely coat the digestive tract with a protective gel film without sedimenting in the cecum. In the past, a lot of coarse zeolite was given to horses in quantities of 100g/day like for cows (which are less affected), leading to colic from sedimented coarse zeolites in the cecum. A healthy large horse does not necessarily need more than 10-20g/day of KlinoMont®, and in acute cases no more than 30g/day. Many customers have reported that these amounts are completely sufficient. KlinoMont® is very potent in this regard. It's important to note that chemical medications can be completely neutralized without a time gap, especially very strong, metal-containing medications.

Tip: The easiest way is to mix KlinoMont® 1:1 with water and then mix the paste into the feed. For dry feed mixtures, simply mix in the powder. It's also good to mix it into the horse's drinking water while stirring.

Zeolite - Clinoptilolite

Our 6µm natural zeolite-clinoptilolite, like many high-quality zeolites, comes from the Carpathian belt. It is mined there according to the specifications of our Austrian suppliers and initially ground to about 125 µm (micron) in a roller mill/hammer mill in Austria. Then, it is micronized and activated in an air stream at about 300 km/h through particle/particle collision in a jet mill (the spiral jet mill is a gentler development of tribomechanical micronization TmaZ) by the mill manufacturer and a specialized service provider to ø 6µm (micron). It contains no nanoparticles. The datasheet and the chart for particle size distribution are available for viewing.

Particle Sizes in Numbers:

0.30 µm = 0.50% - 0.50 µm = 1.07% - 0.70 µm = 0.99% - 1.00 µm = 1.60% 1.40 µm = 2.37% - 1.70 µm = 2.14% - 2.00 µm = 2.38% - 2.60 µm = 5.17% 3.20 µm = 5.46% - 4.00 µm = 7.03% - 5.00 µm = 7.82% - 6.00 µm = 6.83% 8.00 µm = 11.92% - 10.00 µm = 11.12% - 12.00 µm = 9.84% - 15.00 µm = 11.32% 18.00 µm = 6.66% - 24.00 µm = 5.84%

100% without any additives Highly finely activated natural clinoptilolite zeolite from the Carpathian Belt / Austria Activated using Jetmill technology, micronized (spiral jet mill, a gentler further development of tribomechanical micronization) Ultra-fine average particle size 6 µm No nanoparticles Clinoptilolite content 90-95% Surface area 400 to 600 m²/g Economical in use Cation exchange capacity 210meq/100g Silicon-aluminum ratio 5.5:1 Powder consistency, no larger particles Exact particle size distribution: see chart or data sheet EAN 0609224512087

Clinoptilolite is not legally considered a medicinal product, pharmaceutical excipient, medicine, dietary supplement, medical preparation, or foodstuff in the European Union. It is listed in the FiBL input list (Organic Inputs) 2011 and has EU approval as an animal feed additive 1g568. Zeolite has received a GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) rating from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, this is irrelevant for the EU.

Definition:

Bentonite is a natural clay with a high content of montmorillonite, a natural hydrous aluminum silicate in which certain aluminum and silicon atoms can be replaced by other atoms such as magnesium and iron (Monograph Bentonite, PhEur).

Effects:

Adsorbing, swelling with water, therefore requiring some time to swell.

Indications:

Externally in powder form, Internally similar to activated charcoal as an old home remedy in the gastrointestinal area. It stabilizes the mucus film on the mucous membrane in the digestive tract and adsorbs disease-causing substances and germs.

In accordance with the specifications of the European Pharmacopoeia, Monograph Bentonite, it is batch-tested for identity, purity, and functionality-related properties. It meets all required standards, such as for heavy metals, grinding fineness, swelling volume, and microbiology.
