product description
v a n t e r r e 2200 g Balchem Corporation OptiMSM®, Methylsulfonylmethane, Ultra pure active ingredient quality, completely without additives and vehicles, produced and purified by multiple distillations. The heavy metal content in the MSM is below the currently technically possible detection limit. 1000mg of Methylsulfonylmethane contains 340mg of elemental sulfur.
Balchem uses the most complicated and costly distillation method to purify MSM. The MSM is heated to its boiling point of 238°C. The resulting "MSM vapor" is cooled and recrystallizes into MSM crystals again. This process is repeated several times, obtaining MSM crystals with the highest possible purity:
1. All impurities with a lower boiling point evaporate before the MSM. These impurities are mainly organic compounds.
2. But most importantly to me seems that all impurities with a higher boiling point remain in the so-called distillation column.
These impurities are mainly heavy metals. They have much higher boiling points:
Lead (Pb) 1740°C
Cadmium (Cd) 765°C
Arsenic (As) 613°C
Mercury (Hg) 356°C
OptiMSM® from Balchem is currently the only MSM in the world without detectable heavy metals. These metals would not be desirable in minerals intended for cell detoxification and crossing the blood-brain barrier. After extensive research, we opted for OptiMSM®, simply because Balchem is the only manufacturer in the world that purifies MSM multiple times by distillation, and this still in a production plant reserved exclusively for the production of MSM. The entire plant for a single product.
We examined products more closely, but in every MSM we found quite a bit of heavy metals and other substances. Currently, almost everything is produced in China, and there the purification is done through the so-called crystallization process. This simply means boiling. The water evaporates, but not evaporating pollutant particles like heavy metals and residues from black liquor. A purity of 99.6% simply corresponds to 996 grams out of 1000 grams of MSM. Unfortunately, there were always these 4 grams, or in 99.9% it was one gram too much. It corresponds to 1000 mg or 1000 ppm of substances that shouldn't be there. Comparing: Currently, with the current state of laboratory analysis, OptiMSM® has a purity of 99.9999974%, but not because it still contains pollutants, but because the detection limit of the analysis technology ends there. It can't get any better and that's how we want it. :-)
