product description
Natural bentonite montmorillonite – 1400 g in a BPA-free 2-litre tin:
Our natural bentonite montmorillonite is a calcium-sodium bentonite from the Mediterranean region that has been naturally activated by geogenesis and contains a high proportion of montmorillonite (>90%). A very fine, homogeneous, light-coloured powder, it forms a smooth mass in a small amount of water (1:1). It contains no additives and does not require any chemical activation process, unlike most other bentonites. The montmorillonite content is over 90% and the silicon content is over 60%. Data sheet enclosed. It is packaged by a specialist company in a plasticiser-free 2-litre HDPE container.
Unfortunately, however, the supply of geogenically activated bentonite from the Aegean Sea was exhausted in 2023, and bentonite of this quality and natural geogenesis could no longer be found anywhere in Europe. After having bentonite from Fort Benton for over a year, which met these criteria, we were still not as satisfied with it as we were with our previous bentonite from the Aegean Sea. That is why we searched outside the Aegean Sea once again and finally found what we were looking for in Sardinia. A bentonite naturally activated by geogenesis, better grinding than in the USA, better silicon-aluminium ratio, more than 90% montmorillonite content and significantly faster swelling. This makes it much easier to handle and much more similar to the original from the Aegean Sea.
The best thing to use with pure bentonite is a tea strainer, through which you stir the bentonite into liquids, similar to flour through a flour sieve. This prevents lumps from forming and allows the particles to swell without forming large lumps. It does not necessarily have to be a plastic sieve, as long as the sieve does not come into contact with water. This would be counterproductive because water, like metal, conducts electricity and would weaken the bentonite. When dry, metal can be used with bentonite as well as zeolite.
