v a n t e r r e 480 g Balchem Corporation OptiMSM®, Methylsulfonylmethane, Ultra-pure active ingredient quality, completely free from additives and carriers, produced and purified by multiple distillation. The heavy metal content in the MSM is below the currently technically detectable limit. 1000 mg of methylsulfonylmethane contains 340 mg of elemental sulfur.
Balchem uses a more complicated and costly distillation process to purify MSM. The MSM is heated to the boiling point of 238°C. The resulting "MSM vapor" is cooled and crystallizes back into MSM crystals. This process is repeated several times, resulting in MSM crystals of the highest possible purity:
1. All impurities with lower boiling points evaporate before the MSM. These impurities are mainly organic compounds.
2. But most importantly, all impurities with higher boiling points remain in the so-called distillation column.
These impurities are mainly heavy metals. They have much higher boiling points:
Lead (Pb) 1740°C
Cadmium (Cd) 765°C
Arsenic (As) 613°C
Mercury (Hg) 356°C
OptiMSM® from Balchem is currently the only MSM in the world without detectable heavy metals. These impurities really should not be present in a mineral substance intended for cellular detoxification and passing through the blood-brain barrier. After extensive research, we opted for OptiMSM®, simply because Balchem is the only manufacturer in the world that purifies MSM through multiple distillation and also does so in a production facility exclusively dedicated to MSM. The entire site for one product.
We conducted a lot of research, but found significant amounts of heavy metals in every MSM. Currently, almost all MSM is produced mainly in China, and purification there is done through so-called crystallization. This simply means boiling. The water vapor evaporates, but not the pollutant particles like heavy metals and residues of black liquor. A purity of 99.6% simply means 996 grams out of 1000 grams of MSM. Unfortunately, there were always these 4 grams or, at a purity of 99.9%, one gram too much. This corresponds to 1000 mg or 1000 ppm of substances that should not be there. Comparing: According to the current state of laboratory analysis, OptiMSM® has a purity level of 99.9999974%, but not because it still contains pollutants, but because the analysis technique stops there. There is no possibility of greater purity, and that's how we want it. :-)
